14 Kentucky Trucker Kentucky Trucking Association KTA Chairman Provides Leadership Insight to PHMSA at the USDOT headquarters in Washington, D.C. P HMSA , The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Adminis- tration, is a division of the USDOT in Washington, DC. This past October, PHMSA’s Deputy Administrator reached out to the KTA Board Chairman, Dr. David Guess, to serve as a leading industry panelist in the agency’s inaugural executive leadership program. The Advanced Leadership Development Program (ALDP), is a very high-profile initiative from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s PHMSA division. The goal of this program is to provide executive-level education and training to the agency’s senior pro- gram managers, investigators, and division directors. The program is an entirely new concept from the USDOT in an effort providing cross-organizational leadership training to 10 individuals who serve in roles throughout PHMSA. This group of dedi- cated and up-and-coming leaders will benefit from the lessons and unique insights provided by the three people chosen as panelists. Panelists for this event included: Lena Bryant, Director of Dangerous Goods and Compliance Operations at Amazon. Lena is based in the com- pany’s Seattle Washington headquarters and travels worldwide providing Left to Right- Associate Administrator, Bill Schoonoover. KTA Chairman, David Guess.
