Kentucky Trucker 5 KyTrucking.net Letter from the Chairman T hey say nothing takes the place of a simple handwritten note of thanks to make a huge difference to someone. I tend to agree with that. Of course, it would depend upon the context of the note, I sup- pose. In this case, let’s assume positivity! And to my point, thank you! Thank you to everyone who attended our 2019 Annual Convention. From the feedback I received during and post-conference, this year’s event was likely one of the best our association has known in many years. Our asso- ciation has a long-held tradition of top leadership at the board and presi- dential levels. It’s the annual convention that we seemed to struggle with somewhat. Yet, past conventions have done well, served a great purpose and local industry need, but have never had the “Wow” factor that we recently experienced this year. Overall, I think the location had a great deal to do with its success. The vendors certainly made an impact in both their support financially, as well, in their booth displays. Another reason this year’s convention went so well, and one I am appreciative of as chairman, is the impeccable KTA Staff at our Frankfort, Kentucky headquarters. Having been part of planning many conferences and events throughout my career, I can attest to the level of dedication and resolve it takes to “put on a convention,” in a manner of speaking. This year, our hats are tipped to Melissa Zink, Christy Welch, and Rick Taylor for taking this year’s conven- tion over the top in professionalism. I also want to say thank you to our speakers this year. Personally, I got enough feedback regarding a few of the presentations that we will likely be inviting those same individuals back to the podium again in 2020. On that note, if there are areas you would like to see addressed by means of a for- mal presentation or perhaps a topics roundtable format, please contact our KTA staff or me directly so we can talk about it. I would love to get your feedback and hear your ideas in making our 2020 convention as successful as this year’s was. Again, thank you, everyone, for attending. If I did not get a chance to meet with or chat with you, I apologize. However, please know that I will always try and make myself available if there’s a need.
