18 Kentucky Trucker Kentucky Trucking Association David Guess, Ph.D. KTA Chairman of the Board “The Band Truck Driver” A s your KTA Board Chairman, I’d like to take a few minutes to recognize one of our association allied partners, and fellow board mem- ber, Dallas Barnes. Dallas is the general manager for new truck sales at the Uhl location in Louisville. October 10 th , 2019 — Uhl Truck Sales exemplified the Trucking Moves America Forward campaign through their involve- ment with a local high school marching band. Uhl Truck Sales provided a 2020 International LT as the power unit pulling the band’s equipment trailer to Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana. This event served two purposes. First, it served as an official “college visit” day for more than 100 high-school students. Second, the trip served as an opportunity for the students to interact with a collegiate-level band and ensembles team. One of the key components of this trip was an opportunity for the students and staff involved to experience the world of logistics through Uhl Truck Sales providing their truck for the day. Students and faculty alike fully understood the significance of how the trucking industry not only impacts the nation’s economic engines, they also under- stood that without organizations like Uhl Truck Sales, their trip to Indianapolis likely might not have occurred. continued on page 20 Trucking Moves America Forward: Including High School Marching Bands
